U.S. missile shield aimed at Russia: Medvedev
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev says he has no doubt the U.S. missile shield is aimed against Russia. He made the statement a day after Poland and the United States signed a preliminary agreement to deploy elements of the U.S. missile defence shield on
The deal was reached after more than eighteen months of negotiations between the two countries. A final agreement to station ten interceptor missiles in the country is yet to be discussed by the Polish Parliament.
The U.S. had already signed a pact last month to build a tracking radar in the Czech Republic.
Russia is strongly opposed to the plans, saying the U.S. shield is a threat to its national security and would undermine military balance in Europe.
