Wildfires & controlled burns
On this episode of 360 View we take a look at the massive number of wildfires in Canada. By July, over 400 wildfires were burning. More than 200 were considered out of control. These sent smoke all the way down the east coast of the United States creating hazardous air quality conditions. Canada received help from countries all over the world including South Africa and the United States to help battle the wildfires. International Correspondent Roxana Solano speaks to firefighters from South Africa who came to assist. Scottie Nell Hughes speaks with Edward Struzik, author of "Firestorm: How Wildfire Will Shape Our Future," about the controversial use of controlled burns for prevention, and the ultimate price in loss of life. He also discusses wildfire prevention in different regions of the globe.
