Privacy groups have pulled out of talks with members of the tech industry regarding the regulations surrounding facial recognition technology. For the past 16 months, privacy advocates have been working with the tech industry to craft privacy safeguards for the commercial use of the software in a way that won't hurt consumers. The discussions have all been mediated by the Commerce Department's National Telecommunications and Information Administration. But those talks broke down this week. Boom Bust’s Ameera David weighs in. Then, Erin Ade is joined by Ray Rothrock, CEO of RedSeal. Ray gives us his take on if the US Navy is prepared to take on vulnerabilities of their control systems and tells us how vulnerable the global shipping industry is to cyberattacks. After the break, Bianca Facchinei takes a look at how robotics is changing the global economy and workforce. The rapid developments in artificial intelligence are leading businesses to rely on robots instead of people, as the world tries to deal with growing income inequality. Afterward, Ameera sits down with RT correspondent Lindsay France to talk about Facebook. The social media site doesn’t just want to read your information – it wants to read your face now, too. And not everyone is happy about it. And in The Big Deal, Ameera and Edward Harrison discuss the LastPass hack, Bing and Amazon.
