Transatlantic divorce?

German Chancellor Angela Merkel says: ‘We Europeans truly have to take our fate into our own hands,’ adding, ‘we have to fight for our own destiny.’ Well, indeed! Europe is still relatively rich. Why shouldn’t it be more self-reliant? Is this the start of a transatlantic divorce?
