Grave Games

Some may consider the gravedigger’s craft macabre, depressing, and just plain unappealing, but the Hungarian Undertakers’ Association is trying to improve this image with a national contest to dig the neatest grave in the shortest period of time. The bizarre competition aims to attract new recruits by demonstrating that this underrated profession is actually a rewarding occupation. RTD goes to Hungary to support the country’s best diggers and get an insiders’ look into their craft. What’s it like to encounter death on a daily basis? How do they keep up their spirits? How do they picture their own funerals? Hungarian gravediggers share their take on these questions and more, in Grave Games.

Watch "Grave Games" on RTD website and on RT's live feed. The time of the broadcast is available on RT's schedule page.
