Diving for Gold

The Pinut-an district is known as the Philippines’ underwater Klondike. For years, international corporations have attempted to start mining operations here, but were driven away by bad weather and low profit margins. Ultimately, the area was left to the illegal gold divers. They search for gold nuggets on the bottom — a rather dangerous occupation that can lead to injuries or even death. The residents have no choice — this is the only job they can have to provide sustenance for themselves and their families. What does this life look like?
