World War II Leaders
Two years into WWII, the USA adopted the lend-lease program to provide arms for Great Britain. It included military equipment, as well as gear and supplies for the British to fight Nazi Germany. But Britain had to pay for it. The United Kingdom was nearly bankrupt, so the US agreed to be partly paid in territories, as well as political and military actions, which led to the downfall of the British colonial system. The help offered to the Soviet Union also came at a price.
