Father Zosima: Testament of a Donetsk Seer
Schema-Archimandrite Zosima (Sokur), who passed away in 2002, is often called the Donbass prophet, and is widely regarded as a modern-day saint. As early as the 1980s, he remarkably predicted the coming war in Ukraine, the resurgence of Ukrainian fascism, and the severity of the schism in the Orthodox Church. “When I pass away,” he insisted, “bury me deep, so the followers of Bandera won't dig me up.” Thanks to his efforts, the St. Nicholas and Basil Monastery of Dormition was built. The temple now stands on the line of fire between Russian and Ukrainian forces, but the clerics have bravely kept their services going, risking their lives.
