In Russia, being a doctor is a higher mission. Those who save lives every day are united by their love for people, the courage to assume responsibility, and the determination to cure patients at all costs. Even in the most extreme cases, when it seems there’s no way out.

Today, St. Petersburg is home to Russia’s largest center for research and treatment of cancer – the Petrov Center. New technology is being developed here to diagnose cancer at early stages, as diagnostic delays are often the main cause of cancer deaths.

Scientists are working on a test that can determine if a person has a tumor with just a single drop of their blood, regardless of its location in their body. Consequently, cancer will be detectable long before symptoms develop, at a stage when it can be cured.

‘We can give people something that medical science is perhaps lacking now,’ the scientists of the Petrov Center say.
