‘We did not pay enough attention to Russian security concerns’: Ex-UK ambassador to Russia challenged
On this episode of Going Underground, we speak to the former British ambassador to Russia Sir Tony Brenton. Afshin Rattansi challenges him on the Russia-NATO proxy conflict in Ukraine and, during the interview, Sir Tony Brenton admits that NATO did not pay enough attention to Russia’s security concerns. He also concedes that US-UK-EU sanctions have not had their desired effect of collapsing Russia and that Ukraine bears most of the blame for the failure of the Minsk agreements, which could have prevented the war from breaking out.
