Saudi arms deals in question & Nestle sued over child labor
Anya Parampil reports on Saudi Arabia’s announcement that writer Jamal Khashoggi’s murder was in fact premeditated. She then breaks down how Saudi’s main arms dealers are reacting to news of the killing, finding that while Germany says sales “can’t take place” under current conditions, leaders from Canada, France, Spain and the United States have dodged questions about freezing arms sales or refused to halt them altogether. Medea Benjamin, co-founder of Code Pink: Women for Peace and author of the book Kingdom of the Unjust: Behind the US-Saudi Connection, joins Anya to discuss what this saga has revealed about western leaders. Later in the show, Anya brings an update regarding a case filed against Nestle, which alleges the company aids and abets human rights abuses and child slavery in purchasing its cocoa product from Cote D’Ivoire. Dan Kovalik, Professor of International Human Rights at the University of Pittsburgh and author of the book The Plot to Take Over the World, joins In Question to discuss the issue of child labor in the cocoa industry as Halloween fast approaches.
