Poland’s Nazi Problem & Bush Protested for War Crimes
Anya Parampil reports on a 200,000-strong far-right rally held in Poland over the weekend to mark 100 years of the country’s independence. Polish President Andrej Duda spoke at the event, which included self-described Nazis and fascists chanting slogans such as “Refugees, get out!”. News Analyst for Sputnik Radio, Dmitry Babich, joins Anya to discuss the roots of Nazi sentiment in Poland and whether or not the mainstream international press has sufficiently covered the disturbing news. Later, Anya brings news of a protest in Philadelphia, where former US President George W. Bush was awarded the National Constitution Center’s Liberty Medal along with his wife, Laura, for their work “supporting America’s veterans and caregivers”. Dozens of anti-war activists and veterans protested the event, including Stacey Bannerman, author of Homefront 911: How Families of Veterans Are Wounded by Our Wars, who attempted to return her Presidential Medal of Freedom to President Bush during the ceremony. Stacey joins Anya tell us why she says President Bush ruined millions of lives, including her own.
