Outrage as Israel knocks down Palestinian homes
UK Prime Minister Theresa May is holding an emergency meeting to discuss how London will respond to Iran’s recent seizure of a UK oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz. The tanker and its 23 crewmembers now sit in a heavily guarded Iranian port. Meanwhile, Tehran claims it broke up a spy ring with the arrest of 17 people with alleged ties to the CIA. Over in East Jerusalem, Israel has begun removing Palestinian homes in what's being described as one of the largest home demolition operations in years. The Palestinian Authority condemned the demolition of several buildings and displacement of its residents and demanded international intervention. This comes as new reports highlight the Israeli military’s role in criminal shootings of Palestinians in occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, the protracted trade war between the Washington and Beijing is now having tangible effects across the United States. Chinese direct investments have tanked and worrying trends can be seen across numerous sectors. Tensions between the United States and Venezuela are again in the spotlight after a close call between two military aircraft resulted in the countries accusing one another of violating international law. Finally, the projected image of the Saturn V rocket that transported US astronauts to the moon in 1969 lit up the night sky at the Washington Monument on Friday to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the launch.
