89-year-old Raul Castro announced that he is stepping down as first secretary of Cuba’s Communist Party. The new leader, announced today, is President Miguel Diaz-Canel, making this the first time in about 60 years that the country won’t be led by a Castro. The US has just faced a violent streak of deadly shootings. In Austin, Texas three people were gunned down, while Kenosha, Wisconsin saw three people killed and three others injured at a local tavern.
