Russia: US & allies should not deploy weapons to Ukraine
Officials from Moscow and Washington have begun security talks in Geneva, ahead of the Russia-NATO summit this week. Russia has demanded the US and its allies not to deploy weapons- or conduct military activities in Ukraine and other former Soviet nations. The country also proposing to not include Ukraine as a NATO ally a reduction of military drills—and greater transparency. The US—for its part—says Russia needs to pull back its troops along its border with Ukraine. So far the talks in Geneva have been described as difficult-but businesslike.
