In this episode of “Lumumba’s Africa,” Professor PLO Lumumba explores the historical significance of the African continent, which was the cradle of some of the greatest empires, including the Egyptian, Songhai, Benin, and Yoruba empires, among others across the Mother Continent. While these civilizations flourished, they suffered devastating impacts due to slavery and colonization. However, some of these kingdoms, such as the Zulu Kingdom, Oyo, and the Waganda Kingdom, still exist today. The professor emphasizes the importance of keeping the legacies of African kingdoms alive through discussion and storytelling, as this will help unite Africa and contribute to a brighter future for the continent.
