Trash imperialism

There is a massive island of trash in the Pacific Ocean that is estimated to be the size of the US state of Texas. While conservationists have tried to curb pollution, many nations have made trash into a profitable business, with some countries evading their own environmental laws to export their waste to developing nations. The MO’s Manila Chan speaks to researcher Mageswari Sangaralingam about the ways in which some nations export their waste to poorer countries.
