Enduring supply-chain problems have kept store shelves bare as shipping containers full of goods idle indefinitely outside US port cities while empty containers languish in port. Prices remain higher than a red-nosed reindeer as a nationwide labor shortage has led retailers to forego holiday hours.

An estimated 500,000 or more seasonal workers are lacking to make up for the economic doldrums the country faces as an expensive and uncertain holiday season begins. Plus, should the passionate engagement we're seeing as parents struggle with the US education system over what their children are learning (e.g. critical race theory) as well as masking and social distancing in school has some of these parents perceived as a serious threat and officially labeled as domestic terrorists.
