The UN Security Council convenes an emergency session over the decision to recognize the republics, with Russia's envoy stressing that Moscow wants a diplomatic solution to the Ukraine crisis, but will not allow a bloodbath in Donbass. The West, though, appears more concerned with punishing Russia saying its recognition and peace-keeping mission, violate international law.
