The southern US border & Mexican elections
US President Joe Biden is finally taking action on record-breaking illegal border crossings. However, not everyone is happy. Biden received criticism from both Republicans and Democrats as the White House announced a new executive order that will basically codify allowing 2,500 illegal immigrants into the country every day. The ACLU is suing Biden for implementing the ‘same’ asylum ban as Trump.
On the other side of the border, Mexico’s projected presidential winner Claudia Sheinbaum will become the first female president in the country’s 200-year history. Sheinbaum, the favored successor of outgoing President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, has vowed to continue in the direction set by the populist leftist leader. But the cool-tempered scientist offers a sharp contrast in style – and a break with Mexico’s male-dominated political culture. Scottie Nell Hughes offers her perspective and discusses the relations between the two countries with her panel (Col. Rob Maness, host, Rob Maness show & former US Air Force Colonel; Abraham Marquez, freelance reporter; Tom Norton, chairman, American PAC and veteran).
