Shutting down DC for climate change, Trump & Biden corrupt, FBI loses to anti-war website in court
This week, Washington – the ‘belly of the beast’ – saw Shut Down DC protests blocking roads in a bid to stop business as usual. They did so to protest against accelerating climate change. Lee opens the show with a frank discussion on why we need radical strategies right now, as the threat of climate change continues to grow without any significant challenge from our governments, our industries, or our social institutions. Then Lee ‘Takes the News from Behind’ in an exciting week when Trump’s impeachment proceedings were announced and attention was brought to the corruption of Joe Biden and his son. There’s also good news about 3D printing, and word of genetically modified mosquitoes getting out of control.
In the second half of the show, we introduce new Redacted Tonight correspondent Anders Lee. In his first report on the show, Anders and Lee explore the world of the pro-gentrification YIMBY movement. And finally, Naomi Karavani caps off this week’s show with a look at an unlikely legal victory against the FBI. The website antiwar.com was being surveilled by the agency, because the FBI loves war. So they sued and won with the support of the ACLU. The court proceedings determined that the FBI slandered the website and forced the federal agency to destroy its records on the pro-peace journalists.
