Garland Nixon is the co-host of Fault Lines on Sputnik Radio. He sat down with Lee to discuss the current stand-off between the US and Iran. When the US assassinated an Iranian general with a drone last week, they set off a conflict that the whole world feared. General Qassem Soleimani was one of the most popular figures in Iranian politics and his murder forced Iran to make a potentially world-ending decision. Nixon and Lee sound off on what it means.
Julian Assange continues to sit in a British prison awaiting his potential extradition to America. In his rare public appearances, he seems sickly and many of his supporters worry about his health. Christine Doff and Andrew Smith are helping to organize a vigil to save his life, and they came on the show to discuss Assange’s condition and their plans to help him. They will organize vigils around the world to coincide with his extradition hearings.
