The first killings in clashes between the Russian and British armed forces since Britain invaded Russia to affect regime change during the War of Intervention almost 100 years ago, may well have happened by the time you read this.
And how grave those words are. Yet, this hot war in Syria has, in truth, been brewing for some time, rather like the build-up to World War I – a war which claimed millions of lives and changed the world forever. We now know the proximate cause of that war – the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria – was based on the ‘fake news’ that Serbia had anything to do with the crime.
Can the same be said for the origins of a US-UK war against Russia? To help us to untangle fact from fiction we asked security and terrorism expert Charles Shoebridge.
The US government – supposedly hand-picked by, and in the pay of, the Russians – has demanded that American employees of RT register as foreign agents. However, once registered they are then banned from government press conferences because they are… foreign agents; a circular absurdity of which Alice in Wonderland would be proud.
Sameera Khan is one of the stars of RT America. So all-American in fact, she's a former Miss New Jersey and could have been Miss America itself, had she not been banned from participating because of her political activities (naturally, she then disrupted it). So we invited her into the Sputnik studio to tell us more about how she went from being a beauty queen to a foreign agent.
