Good journalism and a political respite (E309)

The words ‘respected’ and ‘journalist’ used to go together like a horse and carriage, but times have sadly changed. Too many of today’s ‘journalists’ have become mere stenographers to power, as we saw in the Iraq War, when false government claims that Iraq possessed WMDs went virtually unchallenged. So, just what does it take to be a good journalist; honesty, fairness, objectivity? We invited the respected journalist Peter Oborne into the Sputnik studio to help us find out.

And as the festive season draws closer we take a break from politics and elections to meet the alter ego of Adam Potterton, ‘Professor Bob Kazinski’. He came all the way from Utah to give us some Christmas gift ideas. He’s one of America’s foremost sports psychologists and product champions – and he is brilliant at what he does – at least that’s what he told us when he came into the studio!
