The election of Donald Trump has polarized American society on many levels, including in its attitudes to intellect and science. Trump supporters see him as a shrewd and smart deal maker, the salt of the earth, while his critics see him as an ignoramus, worthy of nothing but contempt. Is there any middle ground between the two?
