Grandstand bargaining? Ali Akbar Velayati, senior adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader

On the eve of the Putin-Trump summit, Western media is awash with reports of the so-called ‘grand bargain’ that Russia and the United States may or may not discuss in Helsinki. The Americans want to see the Iranian presence in Syria reduced but, if this is to be achieved, would they themselves have to pay in kind?
