For the past three decades since the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia has been floundering in an identity crisis, insecure about what it is and unsure about what it wants to be. A geopolitical infatuation with the West proved short-lived and unreciprocated, while its relationship with the rest of the world was more talked about than attended to. And then came a military operation in Ukraine that changed everything. Where does it leave Russia in the search for its own identity and relations with others?
