As Shakespeare contended more than four centuries ago, war makes for strange bedfellows, a principle that Türkiye seems to have taken to heart in the current Ukrainian conflict. On the one hand, president Erdogan has called on NATO to take concrete actions to deter so-called Russian aggression but, on the other hand, Ankara keeps deepening its relationship with Moscow and handsomely benefiting from it. This interview was held on the sidelines of the 2022 Primakov Readings.
