As holes-in-one go, Louis Oosthuizen’s remarkable effort on the final day of the US Masters is surely up there with the craziest of them.
The South African aced the 181-yard, par-three 16th hole at the US Masters at Augusta, in what was an amazing bit of golf.
Oosthuizen’s tee shot found the green, with the ball landing about 20ft from the flag, before starting to roll towards the hole.
However, it faced a problem – the ball from the previous shot, made by Oosthuizen’s playing partner, was blocking its path.
Oosthuizen’s ball proceeded to cannon into the other ball, which then appeared destined to go in before narrowly missing the hole.
Having initially been stopped in its tracks, Oosthuizen’s own ball then started to gain momentum, and trickled to the hole before finally dropping in - thus completing quite possibly the most bizarre ace (hole-in-one) ever seen in professional golf.
The 33-year-old golfer was not the only one to land an ace on the 16th, as Irishman Shane Lowry and American Davis Love also achieved the feat, albeit in somewhat less remarkable circumstances.
The tournament was won by Englishman Danny Willett, who claimed the title in dramatic fashion after defending champion Jordan Spieth gave up a five-shot lead.
