Euro 2016: Angry Cristiano Ronaldo throws reporter's mic into lake
An irate Cristiano Ronaldo didn't take kindly to being interrupted by a reporter as he and his teammates were walking alongside a lake near the team hotel.
The Portuguese reporter approached Ronaldo to ask him if he was ready for today's game - Portugal's crunch match against Hungary, their final group game – and Ronaldo reacted by grabbing the microphone and tossing it into the water.
Portugal drew their first two Euro 2016 games in Group F, a 1-1 draw against Iceland – after which Ronaldo criticized his opponents for celebrating “as if they'd won the Euro Cup” – and a 0-0 draw against Austria, where Ronaldo missed a penalty.
Despite being among the favorites to top score in this tournament, the 31-year-old has yet to find the net and will be hoping for better luck against Hungary in a game Portugal must win to qualify for the Round of 16. Another draw, coupled with a positive result for either Iceland or Austria, could leave Portugal in the dreaded third place from which only four teams out of six groups will qualify.
