Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas has won the Russian Gran Prix in Sochi, scoring his first-ever top position in a Formula One race. Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel came in second, with fellow teammate Kimi Raikkonen completing the podium.
Earlier on Saturday, Vettel stunned Mercedes in qualifications, taking his team’s first pole position since 2015 with Raikkonen completing the front row. Starting from the first place, Bottas came first to the finish line on Sunday.
Russian President Vladimir Putin handed the Gran Prix cup to the victorious Finn himself, which has been a tradition since the Sochi track opened in 2014.
