Woods, a 14-time major winner, has been plagued by injury in recent seasons. The former world number one has seen his ranking plummet to 876, and a number of attempted comebacks have stalled.
He is no stranger to controversy off the golf course, however, most notably being involved in a very public split with his then-wife Elin Nordegren in 2009.
