Danish fan fined, expelled from Russia after throwing flare at Moscow game
A traveling fan of FC Copenhagen has been fined 10,000 rubles (US$170) and ordered to leave Russia for throwing a flare at the UEFA Europa League game against Lokomotiv Moscow in the Russian capital.
The Preobrazhensky District Court of Moscow ruled that Danish citizen Elniff Mads should receive the fine and leave the country within five days. The penalty must be paid within one day of the ruling, the court said.
The group stage Europa League game between Lokomotiv and Copenhagen on Thursday finished in a 2-1 win for the home team.
Russia has been recently looking to toughen punishments for using flares during matches, as the country prepares to host its first-ever FIFA World Cup in 2018.
