Mohamed Salah is crucial to Egypt’s chances in their first World Cup in nearly three decades and fans have opted to honor their hero in a rather unique way.
The hopes of the Egyptian nation rest on the shoulders of Liverpool dynamo Salah in Russia this summer and, in honor of the English Player of the Season, a horde of fans are sporting a new hairstyle - by having Salah’s face shaved into the back of their heads.
Walid Akram, a barber who has become notorious for expertly shaving celebrities faces on his customer’s heads, has received repeated requests from fans to adorn their dome with their hero's image after Egypt qualified for their first World Cup in 28 years.
Since then Salah has emerged as the most potent attacking threat in the English league, finding the net 43 times in all competitions so far this season to spark interest from Real Madrid.
“The first time I made a haircut of Salah was the day after Egypt qualified for the World Cup,” Makaram said.

The entire process takes about two hours, according to Makaram. First the outline is applied to the customer’s head in chalk before the real artistry begins with clippers, scissors and a cut-throat razor.
It is worth the wait. One of Makaram’s clients, Ayman Mohamed, reported that he receives a lot of compliments on his artistic hairstyle.
“People’s reaction was incredible,” he said. “Many of them thought it is a painting or a tattoo, but they get dazed when they touch my hair.”
