‘Ireland, I’m here baby’: WBC champ Deontay Wilder crashes weigh-in, confronts Tyson Fury (VIDEO)

A fight between undefeated heavyweights Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder inched closer on Friday after the WBC heavyweight champion gatecrashed the Belfast weigh-in for Fury’s second comeback fight against Franceso Pianeta.

The undefeated heavyweight champion was present at the weigh-ins, in the Northern Irish city, for Fury’s second comeback fight in Belfast on Saturday night and was caught on camera having a furious confrontation with the former champ.

The two fighters have been strongly linked to a bout later this year if, as expected, Fury wins what will be just his second fight since winning the lineal heavyweight title from Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015.

The weigh-in was moved to the Europa Hotel in Belfast City Center after rain caused the cancelation of the pre-fight ceremony originally slated for the open-air Windsor Park. It is likely, however, that Wilder wasn’t familiar with the venue, as he shouted his “Bomb Squad” catchphrase repeatedly.

The Europa Hotel is the most-bombed hotel in Europe, having had at least 36 such incidents in its history.

Fury’s father, John, shook hands with the American fighter before engaging in a shouting match as his son took to the scales.

Ireland, I’m here baby,” Wilder said in a message on social media after the incident.

The champ, the myth, the legend, the knockout artist, the king. I’m here, baby. I just left the Fury weigh-ins and oh my god, was it crazy! It’s going to be a hell of a fight.”

Following the weigh-ins, Fury and Wilder engaged in a shouting match in the hotel lobby.

Fury weighed in at 258lbs, some 18lbs lower than he was for his fight with Sefer Seferi in June. Local fighter Carl Frampton weighed in at 126lbs for his main event world featherweight title bout with Luke Jackson.
