Ronaldo pays the penalty: Cristiano accepts 2-yr prison term & €19 mln fine for tax fraud (VIDEO)
Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo arrived in style at a Spanish court in Madrid, wearing a smile and dapper outfit to plead guilty to tax fraud and accept a 23-month suspended prison term and a €18.8 million fine.
The Juventus winger looked more like he was waltzing down the red carpet rather than traipsing in to court on a grey Tuesday morning in the Spanish capital, just hours after picking up three points in Turin.
But don't worry: Ronaldo, who joins rival Lionel Messi in being convicted for tax evasion in a Spanish court, will not miss any games to do hard time, with a handy law getting him off the hook and allowing the sentence to be suspended.
