Justice served? Aguero misses VAR-awarded penalty for Man City in crucial UCL QF tie
The internet has reacted with a mix of shock and schadenfreude as Sergio Augero missed a first half penalty awarded by VAR in his Manchester City's EUFA Champions League quarter final 1st leg away to Tottenham Hotspur.
In what was perhaps the first dangerous moment of the match, City winger Raheem Sterling made a mazy run on the left flank, before cutting into the Spurs are and shaping to shoot.
His strike seemed bound for goal, before taking a ricochet off an almost-grounded Danny Rose, causing the rest of the City players to appeal for a penalty.

Dutch referee Bjorn Kuipers consulted the VAR replay at length before adjudging Rose's outstretched arm had changed the direction of the ball and duly awarded the visitors a penalty on 13 minutes.
Shockingly, the usually reliable Aguero put the ball to keeper Hugo Lloris' left hand side and at a nice height to save for the French World Cup winner, who duly pounded it out back into play to a raucous reaction from the crowd.

Some fans on social media thought that justice had been served, criticizing the decision to award what seemed like a stonewall penalty.
Others blamed the infamous 'Drake curse' as Aguero and the musician had been pictured before together in the dressing room some time ago.
Even more surprising was the fact the squandered spot kick was Aguero's fourth missed penalty from the last eight he has taken in the Champions League.
