No time wasted: Hurricanes’ Warren Foegele scores 17 seconds into Game 4 against Caps

Carolina Hurricanes’ Warren Foegele has shocked the Washington Capitals players by crashing the net and getting his team on board just 17 seconds into Game 4 of the NHL playoffs.

The ‘Canes got off to a brilliant start on Thursday, immediately capitalizing on a three-on-one opportunity to upset the Caps, who had intended to redeem themselves for a disappointing 5-0 loss in the previous game.

Foegele, who netted his third goal in the series, also set the franchise’s new record for fastest goal to start a playoff game.

The NHL record for fastest goal from the start of a Stanley Cup playoff game is still held by the former LA Kings’ forward Don Kozak, who hit the target just six seconds after the starting whistle in a game against the Boston Bruins in 1977.
