Venezuelan media outlet Telesur reported last week that Cristiano Ronaldo donated $1.5 million to help feed starving people on the Gaza Strip during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, but the report has since been denied.

EDITOR’S NOTE: The original article contained information that Cristiano Ronaldo donated $1.5 million to people on the Gaza Strip. This information was amended after the source of the report Telesurenglish.net posted a correction to their article, denying reports that the footballer made any money transfers to Palestinians.

Last week Latin American television network's website telesurenglish.net reported that the Juventus striker has given the sizable amount of money to the people of Palestine as part of a long relationship between the player and the Palestinian cause.

However the outlet had to deny their original report on May 20 after the story hit the radar of the fact checking website leadstories.com, and Ronaldo’s management team confirmed to Lead Stories that the news was false “like many other stories about Ronaldo.”
