MMA fighter 'Super' Sage Northcutt has posted an update of his injuries following a brutal 29-second knockout on his One Championship debut against Cosmo Alexandre, which included a nine-hour surgery after suffering 8 fractures.
Former UFC welterweight Northcutt was making his bow for the Asian promotion at 'Enter the Dragon' in Kallang, Singapore, against Brazilian veteran 'Good Boy' Alexandre on Friday, when a solid overhand right nailed him for the count after just 29 seconds of the first round.
Posting a surprisingly spritely message on Instagram, Northcutt wrote: "Fresh out of surgery...I had 8 fractures and a nine hour intense operation. Feeling blessed for the amazing care and all the support from one Championship, my family/friends and fans! My Terminator face is not too shabby...'I’ll be back!'"
The 23-year-old joined One from the UFC last November but his debut with the organization against the 37-year-old former Muay Thai and kickboxing world champion couldn't have gone any worse.
Alexandre hammered Northcutt with the first meaningful punch of the fight to send him crashing face first onto the floor and close the night without half a minute of the fight having elapsed.
While the loss was only the third in the 14-fight mixed martial arts career of former karate and kickboxing star Northcutt, it was his most devastating, having suffered his first ever knockout in pro MMA.
