Trip to the football: Cameraman falls down for national anthem (VIDEO)

People behind the camera don’t appear in spotlight themselves too often, but the bumbling actions of one TV crew member from the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk has become a hit on the internet.

The incident, which has gathered thousands of views, occurred during the season-opening ceremony in the Russian second division as Yenisey Krasnoyarsk were getting ready to take on visiting Shinnik Yaroslavl. The cameraman rushed to the pitch to film the players lining up, but lost his balance and collapsed on the grass. It looked even more awkward as the fall was accompanied by the Russian national anthem, which is traditionally played before matches. Some of the footballers just couldn’t contain their smiles, but it turned out the cameraman had sustained a serious injury. He couldn’t get up on his own and medics with a stretcher had to step in to remove him from the pitch. So far, there have been no reports on the cameraman’s condition and how long his recovery is likely to take.
