Gamova & Co. kick off European campaign with easy win
The Russian national women’s volleyball team has successfully started the 2011 European Championship.
Vladimir Kuzyutkin charges dominated throughout the whole game as they faced little problem in their encounter against the Bulgarians 3-0 (25:13, 26:24, 25:20).Commenting on the game, Kuzyutkin described his team’s performance as “almost perfect”, especially in the first set. The Russian leaders Ekaterina Gamova and Natalia Goncharova claimed 26 and 13 points respectively.Team Russia, playing in Pool D, will face underdogs Spain and the Netherlands in the remaining group games.The event, running in Italy and Serbia between September 23 and October 2, will decide the first two teams heading to the 2012 London Olympics.
