Russia hit synchronized swimming jackpot in China, Ischenko 16-times world champ

Russia’s synchronized swimming team have collected all seven golds at the Aquatic World Championships in Shanghai, China, and Natalia Ischchenko is now 16-times world champion.

The Russian squad, consisting of Anastasia Davydova, Natalia Ishchenko, Elvira Hasyanova Svetlana Kolesnichenko, Daria Korobov, Aleksandra Patskevich, Alla Shishkina, Angelica Timanina, Maria Gromova and Alexandra Zueva, triumphed in the team free routine final on Saturday. The charges of coaches Tatiana Pokrovskaya and Tatiana Danchenko grossed 98.620 points, leaving hosts China in second place. Spain took the bronze, being over two and a half points behind the champs.The result sees the Russian girls claiming gold in all seven synchronized swimming events at the current Worlds. Team leader Natalia Ischenko has brought her country six golds in China to set an unbelievable achievement of becoming a 16-times world champion.
