The United States Olympic Committee is asking a judge to step in and shut down a website it alleges is selling tickets for the Beijing games fraudulently.
Beijingtickets.com is believed to have taken thousands of dollars from US residents without delivering the tickets for the Games, which start on Friday. The company notified customers via email on Monday that they would not be receiving their tickets. One of those left disappointed by the alleged scam is James Moriarty. He said the website had “the official Olympic logo, rings, Olympic images and there was the text to confirm it is official Beijing Olympics ticket website so I ordered about $12,000 tickets from that website,” Moriarty said.
