Russia’s medal account at the London Paralympics has reached 23 gold, outdoing the result of Beijing 2008 with five days still left in the competition.
The country’s disabled athletes were simply on fire on Tuesday, wining seven gold, two silver and four bronze medals. Team Russia remain third in the medal race, with 62 medals (23 gold, 22 silver and 17 bronze), but they’ve already caught up with hosts Great Britain in the number of gold.China continue their dominance in London with 132 medals (53 gold, 39 silver, 40 bronze).Meanwhile, the Russians have already bettered their display in Beijing four years ago, where they snatched 18 gold, fulfilling the goal set by sporting officials before the games.
