Olga Zabelinskaya of Russia has added a bronze in the women’s Olympic time trial to the one she captured in Sunday's road race.
The Russian sat sixth with ten kilometers left in the 29-kilometre course around south London, but an emphatic finish got the St Petersburg-born cyclist a spot on the podium.Zabelinskaya, who wasn’t regarded among the favorites before the event, finished 22 seconds behind the champion Kristin Armstrong of the United States and seven seconds from silver medalist Judith Arndt of Germany. The American took the lead right from the start and the gap only grew as Armstrong barreled toward the finish at Hampton Court Palace. The former two-time world champion defended her Beijing crown in style. The 38-year-old Armstrong briefly retired after her triumph in 2008 to start a family. After giving birth to a son in 2010, she hopped back on the bike, with the London Games her primary focus.
