Over 35,000 people from northern England have signed a petition, asking to join future independent Scotland and sever from London. It says ‘the northerners’ have more bonds with Scotland than with “the ideologies of the London-centric south.”
“The deliberations in Westminster are becoming increasingly
irrelevant to the north of England,” says an online petition to the UK Government on
change.org website.
The document dubbed: ‘Allow the north of England to secede from
the UK and join Scotland’ has been signed by almost 35,000
people.
Yorkshire has hills, nice coastline and heather. National realignment is the obvious way forward.#TakeUsWithYouScotland

“The northern cities feel far greater affinity with their
Scottish counterparts such as Glasgow and Edinburgh than with the
ideologies of the London-centric south,” the petition says.

The document states the north of England “should join the newly
independent Scotland and regain control over its own destiny.
“We, the people of the north, demand that in the event that
Scotland becomes independent the border between England and the
New Scotland be drawn along a line that runs between the River
Dee and the mouth of The Humber.”

Residents of Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, Leeds,
and almost every other northern community are planning to join
independent ‘New Scotland’.
“Fed up with the South looking down at the North,”
Michael Anchor from Liverpool, one of those who signed the
petition, wrote on the website.
“Scottish Nationalists are able to state sensible policies
that parties in England think are electoral suicide,” added
Jo Tomalin from Sheffield.

When RT’s Harry Fear arrived in Manchester to find out what is attracting the north of England to Scotland, he found opinions of the passers-by were divided.
“Great idea!” or “I am for it, as long as we get the
same benefits as Scotland does,” said 50 percent of the
respondents eager to join future independent Scotland.
The other half told RT the idea is “bad and awful” and
they are “perfectly happy being English.”
According to Mike Walsh from Chorlton Central Church, many people
in the northern cities “felt just as much as disconnect with the
Westminster politics as the people of Scotland clearly do.”
“They like what is being said in Scotland,” he told RT.

READ MORE: Cameron must deliver on Scottish
devolution pledges, says Sturgeon
Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, whose party won 56 of 59
Scottish seats at the recent UK elections, said she is determined
to ensure the fullest possible devolution of powers by
Westminster to Scotland.
“Public spending and the protection of Scotland's budget will
be key issues on the agenda when we do meet,” said Sturgeon.
“The issue of more powers for the parliament must form part
of our discussions.”
