The former leader of far-right group Britain First has been jailed for eight weeks after he breached a High Court order which prohibited him from entering mosques in England and Wales.

Paul Golding, who stepped down as leader of the group last month, pleaded guilty to the charge following the breach.

“The High Court has sent Paul to prison for confronting a hate preacher in Cardiff who said it’s okay for Muslims to keep sex slaves! More updates shortly,” a statement from Britain First said.

The sentencing follows a request for an injunction by Bedfordshire Police after a series of “mosque invasions” by the so-called “Christian patrol” who filmed themselves aggressively storming into mosques to confront worshippers.

Just last month, Britain First’s current leader Jayda Fransen was found guilty of religiously-aggravated harassment for shouting abuse at a hijab-wearing Muslim woman in Luton.

Fransen was fined almost £2,000 (€2,400) for the incident but denied any wrongdoing.

TellMAMA, an organization that monitors anti-Muslim hate crimes, has previously referred to Britain First as a group that runs “bizarre” schemes to “promote its extremism.”
