One New Hampshire resident may have watched a little too much 'Point Break' recently, as he donned a President Barack Obama mask just days before Halloween – and proceeded to rob a local Dunkin’ Donuts.
Surveillance video from a Dunkin’ Donuts in Salem, New Hampshire,
shows a man wearing a black jacket and black gloves waving a gun
as he enters the store, local NBC affiliate WHDH reported. The
incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening. The man
reportedly demanded the money in the store’s register before
leaving.
Once he left the store, he entered the passenger side of a small
Toyota vehicle, police said, according to CBS Boston.
Although the Salem Police Department did not offer a reason as to
why the armed robber chose an Obama mask, Chief Shawn Patten said
it makes it tougher to figure out his identity – though they do
suspect a white male to be behind the incident. At the same time,
the mask could help the investigation if its purchase can be
traced.
“It only makes it harder to identify a suspect, we usually
see a ski mask, it’s not often we see a Halloween
type-mask,” Patten told WHDH. “He may have stopped a
couple stores, that’s what we’re looking into, maybe he didn’t
have a mask in one of those stores.”
Police are currently checking with Halloween stores in the area
to see if any footage or clues could lead to the Obama impostor's
identity.
