Authorities in Memphis are looking into a distressing image posted on Facebook that shows two children with duct tape over their mouths and hands, carrying a message that those two bad kids were for sale for a notable discount.
The image was posted on Facebook on Friday by Jaton Justsilly Jaibabi. It shows two young children in a car with duct tape tying their hands together and covering their mouths.
“Kids for sale, 45 percent because they bad,” says the post which sparked much fury among the parents online, and caught attention of the authorities.
Tennessee Department of Children’s Services said they are researching the situation before they investigate the family.
The mother’s cousin Darion King however claims it was an innocent joke which backfired after getting too much attention.
“I don't really too much care about the people they have opinions. Our family and friends know the love we have for all the kids in our family it's just crazy that out of a whole lifetime they judge a person off of this one event," she said.
“Basically a joke at the moment that people just went overboard about. People make mistakes and that's what this situation is, a lesson learned. They are safe, unharmed, and loved that's all it is to it,” King added.
In December, a North Carolina woman posted a photo of her dog with its mouth taped shut on Facebook and was eventually charged with animal cruelty.
